About Me

This blog is about me and my voyage to becoming a mummy. Ironically called “mummy in the baking” as together with my passion and obsession for all things cake related, I will never be able to have my own "bun in the oven." Years of fertility treatment have taken their toll and I now find myself on a new..eek, i hate this word...journey! The crazy train to adoption. I hope you will join me while I bake my way to becoming a mummy. I want this blog to be a source of information as well as a comforter. I hope it will inspire and help anyone who is considering adoption or who has in fact already bought their ticket for this..here I go again...journey. Cake makes me happy and I hope you will enjoy sharing my love of it. I want it to help lift your spirits and hearts through what can only be described as 'the trials and tribulations of the adoption process.' Along with my desire to be a family, I love my dogs, have an unhealthy love of sausages and chenin blanc, adore my land rover uber-nerd of a husband and continiously dream of balmy summer evenings. Baking in progress…..

Bon voyage....
It's our first couple session of 2013 with Miss Delia and today we focus on LRUN and I as a couple. We are asked alot of on the spot questions about our relationship, how we met (Eek, I choke on my chocolate chip cookie as it was all a bit wild and a lot of alcohol involved but we manage to somehow dignify and tone it down slightly) We focus on how we handle problems, our sex life and more. It's awkward but we try not to giggle too much and somehow get through it with minimal blushing. We go to book the next few sessions and Miss Delia drops the bomb that she will be away on holiday for the next 3 weeks. I don't even flinch and she seems surprised by this...she says most people always look so horribly disappointed when she announces holiday but to be honest, I am pleased she is taking it now, rather than at a crucial time in the near future. We have two more sessions left with her and she announces that she is still hoping to book us in for an April panel. This is the first time we have heard a possible date and we both try and act cool and nonchalant but in essence just want to jump up and down with excitement.  April...! Now that's not far away at all :-) I launch myself back into baking mode on the weekend and try out a new Chocolate Cake with Hazelnut Mousse. I really wish I hadn't.....too divine!
