About Me

This blog is about me and my voyage to becoming a mummy. Ironically called “mummy in the baking” as together with my passion and obsession for all things cake related, I will never be able to have my own "bun in the oven." Years of fertility treatment have taken their toll and I now find myself on a new..eek, i hate this word...journey! The crazy train to adoption. I hope you will join me while I bake my way to becoming a mummy. I want this blog to be a source of information as well as a comforter. I hope it will inspire and help anyone who is considering adoption or who has in fact already bought their ticket for this..here I go again...journey. Cake makes me happy and I hope you will enjoy sharing my love of it. I want it to help lift your spirits and hearts through what can only be described as 'the trials and tribulations of the adoption process.' Along with my desire to be a family, I love my dogs, have an unhealthy love of sausages and chenin blanc, adore my land rover uber-nerd of a husband and continiously dream of balmy summer evenings. Baking in progress…..

Just browsing........

Before you all jump with adoption infused joy and elation, I have no significant news I'm afraid. Well, other than Miss Delia is coming to see us on the 10th of July but it's just what they call..stop laughing Miranda fans....a 'staying in touch meeting.' Just a little comforter. Something to keep us going while we wait. But you know what, I appear to be really good at waiting. Five years down the line and I have perfected the art of abiding my time. I'm also really good at window shopping in the kiddie departments. That on-line sale on the early learning centre is pure heaven and we won't even talk about those cute little circus tents in that Swedish emporium. This past weekend was spent camped next a family with two adorable little girls and all we talked all weekend was how different it would be for us with a little one. Maybe someone will now at least appreciate my really bad camp-fire ghost stories, ball games, bunting and the fairy lights malarky. One thing we do know is...our LandRover was full just with our stuff. Did someone mention a roof box? Now, if you need a good cake to take camping...try this dark, sticky gingerbread cake with a whiskey glaze (obviously sans the whiskey for little ones..try adding vanilla water instead) It's a keeper!
